Finding my way...

Travel Tips

Okay, it's been almost a year since I posted.  I've got a bunch of updating to do on this site, but I want to write down a couple of things from this trip I've been incredibly grateful for.

I've now traveled a lot in my life.  This is my fifth or sixth trip to D.C. and I'm actually too tired to do any sight seeing this time; however, I'm not too tired to write down a couple of travel tips that have really paid off in spades.
  1. Pack a Nalgene and a travel mug (for coffee) in your carryon.  At the conference here, I have repeatedly used both to have access to water and caffeine. And BONUS today, while I was strolling through the DuPont Circle Farmer's Market, I came across Zeke Coffee.  It was 3 dollars for a small, but when I offered my travel mug, they discounted it to a dollar!  It was the first decent cup of coffee I've had since I arrived.
  2. Polyester dresses rock.  I brought three.  Wadded them up in my case and hung them up when I got here.  One pair of sandals and BOOM--outfits for three days.
  3. Pack a sandwich and water for the plane.  That Nalgene in number 1 really came in handy on my plane ride here.  I got through security with it empty, but filled it up on the other side.  On the flight, we had turbulence.  They literally served the man next to me with snacks and a drink and then called it quits because of the air conditions.  I got to sit there and watch him with his ice cold drink and snacks.  But, it was no worry, I had packed a sandwich and I had my water.  At least it kept the hangries away.
  4. A good backpack is priceless.  I've stolen my husband's Marmot Talus 65.  It's a day and a half pack, but it is my go to bag for work and for travel.  I should probably get my own bag soon.  It would be a good holiday gift to me!

That's it.  Short and sweet.  I'm going to update my watercolors soon in my gallery.  Thanks for reading.  Please feel free to contact me if you have questions.
